While we as the Brixton Community Forum are not in a position to solve these problems, we hope to provide residents with information so that you can take up matters yourselves where appropriate. In the case of serious or protracted incidents, the BCF will undertake to assist residents with some of the reporting processes.
With regard to illegal communes, you should be aware that there are strong efforts afoot to report and audit all communes in Ward 69 and Ward 87. We are working with the COJ and to establish a registry of all communes in the Ward. Communes The BCF is continuing to build our database of all communes, both illegal and legal. If you are legal please let us know so we can send students to you! For reporting of alleged illegal communes please email Theo Tempele: [email protected] and copy [email protected]. BUILT ENVIRONMENT CONTRAVENTIONS AND COMPLAINTS can be directed to Joseph Geduld [email protected] and copy [email protected]. For illegal building email Lebo Mdhuli, the building inspector for our area: [email protected] and cc us as well. Please remember to ask for a reference number. If you are having noise issues with communes please also let us know. Try and keep a record of when and if you have called the police for assistance. NOTE: We are aware that there are many proactive residents in Brixton. Since the BCF is entirely voluntary, we are always happy to have assistance from residents not on the committee who have experience of some matters in the area or who have particular skills that would be useful to the committee in solving problems relevant to the community. Please contact us at [email protected] if you are able to offer assistance in any way. |
