We had such a wonderful turn out for our communitymeeting to plan events for the year. So many creative plans and ideas, and so many people willing to make our hood a vibey and exciting place to be!
Our first three projects have been launched with great success: our Park Days with the Auckland Park Resident's Association (held on every Second Saturday in the month), cleaning up the Club House, and our Alley Activations have started with some painting and planting in the alley between Barnes and Fulham. So many people to thank - but special thanks to the BrixtonCommunity Forum and volunteers who got their hands dirty!
On Park Day we were so excited to have the police horses and ADT provided a wonderful artist to paint the children's faces. Church@44 kept us going with Bean There Coffee (yum!) and it was a wonderful day to celebrate with our neighbours.
If you'd like to be involved, please let Sophia know on firstname.lastname@example.org. We are still looking for volunteers to help with communitybeautifying projects (painting, planting and the like), for assistance on event days, and for projects like reading to kids at Park Days (held on the Second Saturday of every month). If you can't help, but you can make a contribution towards hiring an otherwise unemployed Brixton resident for the day, please do let us know. We're also keen for donations of any exterior paint (bright colours and white are first prize!)
Next Park Day Hooray! Is on the Second Saturday of next month, 8 April, between 09:00-12:00 #BrixtonBeautiful
